fun on the floor

what do these images have in common?

carpet obviously.  I would consider myself one of the biggest carpet poo-pooers out there.  Typically, because of my hardwood snobbery I won't even look at a home with wall-to-wall carpet.  Then Patrick of Fun on the Floor sent me an email about their plan for a "carpet revival."  Interior designer/craft queen Danielle Proud is on a mission to put this "fluffy flooring" in a new light.  Part of the project involves creating a carpet-filled idea house featuring 6 themed rooms.  Danielle has used carpet in ways I would have never thought possible...or thought of period (I am particularily interested in the pretty stair runner).

I do love the coziness of carper (nice, clean, soft carpet) and these photos have my wheels turning.  I think the Fun on the Floor project maybe working considering the fact that my mind never wandered this way before.  I am not at all ready to commit to a home full of carpet, but a nice comfy guest room maybe nice and then we can see where it goes from there.

I love that top gray striped carpet. So amazing! We are remodeling our house which belongs to my parents, so actually they are remodeling but are letting us make the decisions since we live there-- and they want us to have carpet. I wish we could have that carpet, but I know they want a neutral speckled carpet... *sigh* I suppose I wil survive.

ooooh, I love all these pictures, just because of the colors and they look really cozy. I'd rather have a house full of hardwoods as well because it is easier to clean, but unfortunately our home is half hardwood, half carpet. I used to have a home all hardwood and I like it because I could change the area rugs if I wanted to. I really like the stair runner in these pics as well.

hee hee... i work for a modular carpet tile company as the showroom sample library manager. i never thought i could like carpet until i saw exactly how cool it can be, especially modular. plus, the company i work for is recycling old carpet and making it into new carpet to prevent the old from ending up in landfills. i'm not into pushing the company brand... but our founder was featured in the film "The Corporation" as the "good" guy. if you're curious :)

i still prefer hardwood as well, but i've fashioned a few really neat hall runners and area rugs from samples that have come by my desk.

i really love the the stair-runner pattern! amazing.
