tim groen

Yesterday on my "i heart" I posted a masterpiece created by Tim Groen....it has been on my mind ever since.  Today I went back to Velocity and checked out all of Tim's amazing work.  I am in love....

I can't stop staring at them.  I find the colors and textures mesmerizing.  His collages are constructed using numerous types of papers, latex and acrylic paint and gesso.
Every now and again I start folders of artwork I hope to own one day...

Tim has a folder of his very own...I don't think I could choose just one.  Hopefully there are still a few left when that time comes....sigh....

time to get all gooey

My creation

hello all...it's me, Mrs. French. I have been trying to come up with the best way to thank each and everyone of you for your constant words of encouragement, compliments, advice and inspiration. I think I have said it all before, however, I am hoping that you all know how much I truly mean it. The world of blogging has changed my life, literally. I had absolutely no idea this past March how starting little old bliss would change the course my life was moving in. First and formost I started out as a fan...I became a fan of your blogs, your aesthetic, your talents and soon began to see a new world more beautiful than anything I could have imagined. You all inspired me to start taking pictures and unlocked something inside of me. Anyway, these flowers are for you...they were taken by women I look up to...women that in some cases have become my friends.

I also need to take a moment to thank specific bloggers for posts that showcased my photographs or mentioned my shop opening...these are some of my favorite blogs and I encourage you to check them out:
Melissia Loves (not nearly as much as I love her)

Goodness, I hope I didn't miss anybody...if I did let me know so I can make it right. I am posting this now, but look forward to visiting all my blog friends this weekend and catching up...if I ever can do anything for you please let me know. xo

oh no you didn't.....i did, i did!

delicate
I did it!  I did it!  I did it!  I opened my etsy shop.  I am an extreme person, nothing is "no big deal" to me, so getting this shop up and running is huge.  I have been petrified with fear since my announcement...so the fact that I didn't curl up in a corner is quite the accomplishment (ok, not quite that dramatic...but sounds very theatrical doesn't it?).  Thanks again for all your kind words of support and the advice you have thrown to me here and there.  I am not being "extreme" when I say that I could not have done it with out you... Thank from the bottom of my overjoyed heart.  xoxo

texture

As my photo addiction grows and grows so does my curiousity.  Today I played around with texture and layering.  I am hooked!  Due to this newfound obcession I am planning on starting up an etsy shop!!!!  I am nervous, excited and anxious...I will be working on it while little man is in school.  Thank you so much for the kind words, suggestions and advice I honestly could not and would not do it without you.
The first 2 photos here were processed using textures I came up with...

In this one I found the most amazing texture here.  I can't wait to come up with some wonderful, new ones on my own.  Yippeeeeee!

periwinklebloom

Periwinklebloom would have to be one of the very first blogs I frequented.  It is a breath of fresh air in the blogging world; beautiful, simple, and clean.  Tyler has become one of the bloggers I consider a friend.  We email on occasion; making little pacts to redecorate rooms together, to thank one another for comments left or just simply to say "hi."  I have gotten a kick out of watching Tyler build her lovely line of clothing for some very lucky small ones.  It is fully up and running and it is truly beautiful.  The photos are exquisite (you know I like that), the only complaint I have is not being able to touch her creations through my screen.  Her products are truly art...in an earth friendly, natural way....taking "hand-me-down" to a beautiful place.

At the moment her focus has been placed on little girls, however, she assures me some soft little boy pieces will be finding their way into her shop soon.  Thank goodness!

Oh...did I mention Tyler will be launching a line of letterpress paper goods? Stay tuned to watch this little company grow.

d d d d dahlia

A couple of weekends ago we went here with our ladies.  This is not the typical outing for the French family, but we decided to give it a go.  One of the greatest things about having the best neighbors of all time is the fact that they have introduced us to so many wonderful things in Oregon.  Things that we would have never found without them.

Thanks to Donna, I now notice flowers. I think I used to purposely avoid them for their own sake.  My former blatant fear of flowers prevented me from killing them dead.  No more dear friends...I do not fear them and have even planted some.  I have only killed about 1/4 of them at this point and firmly believe those numbers will not increase.  Anyway, Donna gave me a few dahlia bulbs to plant and they are coming up beautifully.  Dahlias are now my favorite (I can't believe I have a favorite!).  After our little weekend excursion my love affair with this most stunning of all flowers has increased.  I could not stop taking pictures...

It ended up clouding over...I love how the sky came out.

B found a dahlia that had fallen to the ground...so sad for the dahlia but so wonderful for us...I loved how it looked in this fancy bowl my momma gave me.

just because...trupeach style.

I was visiting one of my favorite blogs a couple of weeks ago and come across the loveliest of ideas...screeech...back up a bit.  A while back I posted about "just-because-gifts" and the incredible thoughtfulness behind them and that there really isn't anything much sweeter.  Then I run smack dab into this through my friend at Purple Bottle...the sweet miss trupeach.

I was the first to comment on her "sercy" post...lucky me!  Oops, then the anxiety started...what do I send?  What if no one comments?  so I sat on it for a while.  Then yesterday it arrived (photos she took, string and sweet, tiny clothes pins to boot):

Wonderful, simple and perfect.  Trupeach had managed to send out a just-because that made my day (a Monday at that).  I am inspired and so excited to do the same! Comment away my blogger friends and give me the chance to make your day.

"Pay it Forward Exchange:
Here are the rules: I agree to send something fun, cute and nice to 3 blog owners who post a comment on this entry.  In turn, those three will post this information and pick 3 people they wan to send something to and so on.  Unfortunately, due to postage costs, I can only pay it forward within the United States.  If you are interested in participating, be one of the first 3 blog owners to leave a comment.

You have to promise that you will then post about this on your blog, link to me, and then send something to the first three people who comment on your blog so that this continues.  When I have the first three to comment I will email a request for your shipping address and I will send out something that I hope will make you smile!"

apples and bulbs.

We went here with dear friends this past weekend.  We had such an amazing time!  I was not prepared for the raw beauty of the tiny apple orchard....to top it all off the orchard was dripping in strings of hanging lights.  I could not physically stop myself from snapping photos...here is a sampling:

do you see my tiny B in this one?

I heart Mama's Cup.

It's my first "I heart..." list of the week.  Not here sillies, I am over here at Mama's Cup.  Meaghan, the mama of all mamas, asked me to do a guest post and I was so happy to say "yes!"  I have to say there were selfish reasons for this: I have a bookmark folder bursting with stuff I love for B and his fellow small friends, so I was jumping at the chance to "I heart" it up all over the place.  Go check it out!  I will be back tomorrow with a lovely grown up version.

Be back tomorrow all refreshed and stuff....

I'm taking the day off to love up the family...I will be back tomorrow with not one, but two "I heart..." lists!  Stay tuned for details!  Enjoy the holiday my friends!!!
